Watoto Choir To Sing At The Queen’s Jubilee Pageant

The Watoto Children’s Choir is honoured to represent Uganda at the historical Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle from 10th – 13th May 2012.

The Diamond Jubilee Pageant is a four-day event, part of the various activities set to celebrate 60 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign (June 2012).

It will be attended by members of the Royal Family, with Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh in attendance on Sunday evening.

From its current tour and new album, Beautiful Africa: A New Generation, the choir will perform Beautiful Africa, and join in a 90 minute theatrical act with other performers to celebrate the 250 plus Commonwealth and State visits The Queen has made during Her Reign. The acts will include military and equestrian displays, musicians and dancers from six continents.

Watoto will be representing Uganda. Along with the Nairobi Chamber Chorus from Kenya, they are the East African contingent.

The choir has performed twice for the Queen, at Buckingham Palace in November 2007 and in Kampala during the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting in the same year.

In August 2006, the choir graced the Edinburgh Military Tatoo in Scotland.
