Watoto Loves USA

When Hurricane Sandy hit, Watoto Children’s Choir 57 was on Long Island in a beautiful town called Smith Town. News all over television predicted that the Island was one of the key areas to be hit.

We did not know what to expect even though we had been warned. The children were mainly concerned about the aunties and uncles from the families that hosted them before the hurricane hit. As we watched the news,  the children asked many questions Рabout every American, visitor and friend who may have been affected by the hurricane.

We have continued to pray for America and share a message of hope saying, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN, through the concerts.

Choir 57 has sung in places like Lakewood, New Jersey. This was a particularly  memorable experience because even though there was no electricity, the choir used drums and led the congregation in a powerful African candle-lit service, which prompted everyone to sing along. The choir made other stops in New Jersey including Piscataway, Newark and Cranford, which was recently affected by Irene.

We want you to know that we love you and we consistently pray for you. If you attended the concert before the hurricane, please let us know how you are doing. We would like to update the children.

Choir 57 continues on its 5-month tour of the USA. Follow or recommend the link below to see the choir in your area. http://www.watoto.com/the-choir/see-the-choir.
